Mike Conner is our head instructor with Western Montana School for Guides. Mike is an experienced guide and packer who knows his way around the wilderness. He possesses 23 years of experience as a guide throughout the Northwest and has a knack for passing it on to his students. Not only does Mike have years of experience as a guide, he has general outdoor knowledge from being an outdoor enthusiast. Over the years Mike has gained the knowledge of what it takes to run an outdoor adventure business successfully.  Under his skillful guidance you can learn what it takes be an outdoor adventure guide and a wilderness packer.

Scott Boulanger

Scott Boulanger

Director of Education Scott Boulanger, has many years of combined hunting, education, business and outdoor experience. Before discovering his dreams in Montana, Scott operated an electrical contracting business in the Northeast. But in 1990 he decided to change his life and headed West. He completed training as a professional guide and began working for several outfitters under the "big sky." He took clients on hunting trips, backcountry trips and began teaching others to be guides.

Steve Brawley

Starting at the age of 16, Steve began guiding, packing, cowboying and shoeing horses and mules professionally and has continued these trades for the last thirty one years. He has had his own outfitting business and has also been involved in the education of future guides and packers for many years.

Working in the great outdoors has been a way of life, all of his life, and he looks forward to continuing in this profession for the remainder of his days.

 

Merle Kleen
Merle  is your instructor in the map and compass class.

He is a retired airline pilot with about 55 years experience in aviation navigation.  With his help you will learn to plot a course on maps using a compass and navigate through complex topographies. Merle also brings his experience serving in Ravalli County Search and Rescue in the Bitterroot Mountains of Western Montana where he served as training officer for a period of 2 years.

Merle will also hold a short class in gun safety.  The class will be about gun safety with hunters and horses.   Merle also has  20 years of part time guiding and packing experience in Idaho.

Steve Puppe

Steve Puppe grew up in South Eastern Minnesota. From a very young age he would tag along with his father as he taught Steve the sport of hunting. Growing up in a great family that taught him ethical hunting methods, he excelled in the sport. 

Steve has hunted North America from Alaska to Mexico and has traveled to both Africa & New Zealand. His list of trophies is endless including Elk, Bear, Caribou, Turkey & Deer all of which he has taken record book animals.

Steve Founded Adventures Wild Productions to help give his fellow hunters the outdoor programming they have asked for. He is known for his high impact, educational but entertaining seminars and loves to share is 30 plus years of knowledge. Steve stresses the importance of scouting and knowing the land to be a successful hunter.
